Custom Christmas Cards

Warning: Long Post

Three more shopping days left! Scary! I hope everyone is done or almost done with their shopping! We just did gift cards this year, so we were done last week.

Today I wanted to share more Christmas cards I've made. The first one is for a friend of ours. I made FORTY of them! It was tough, since I couldn't use ribbon, flowers or buttons, nothing girly! I clear embossed a Santa image and inked everything with a little gold and of course added glitter for the sentiment. You just have to have glitter on your cards, girl or not. :) I also printed a little Christmas poem that he chose for the inside. I hope he loves them, that was hard work, but I love it!Here's a better shot of the front...
And here's what forty handmade Christmas cards looks like!
Just a word of advice, if you ever make that many, keep it simple! I thought mine was simple but I didn't really take into account all of the inking and matting!

The next one I made for my Granny. I learned my lesson the first time and tried to keep it simple. She only wanted ten so I splurged on the embellishments a little. I punched out snowflakes then covered them in Stickles and put rhinestones from the dollar bin at Michaels. I just love those things, bought them in every color! I also put Stickles all around the edges, the sparklier the better! Plus, my Granny loves glitter too! Then, I heat embossed Merry Christmas on the card with silver embossing powder. Last, I printed a little Christmas greeting inside hers also so she wouldn't have to write inside them.

Knowing me, this will probably be my last post before Christmas, so I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Don't eat TOO much, I know I will!

PS: I lied. When I pulled that last picture off my camera, I found two other little projects I need to write about. So, I will be back, just don't know when! I'm cooking a turkey and dressing on Christmas Eve for Christmas with my mom. I've never cooked either before, so we might just be ordering pizza! Wish me luck!

Merry Christmas to Me!

Last week I was part of a blog hop for MY GRAFICO. They decided to have one for their customers and they gave away a free set and they gave it to ME! I chose one of Pregnant Lady Silhouettes, because I happen to know FIVE pregnant people right now and I'm sure I'll know more! If you would like to win free sets from them they have challenges on their blog every week, so check it out!

Also, I played a game that was part of a blog hop at Gingersnap Creations last week. You had to collect a word from each blog and form a famous art quote with the words. Well, I was going through my spam today and saw that I won that too! I won the 2009 Christmas plate from Hearts in Touch.Isn't beautiful! I just can't wait to get it! Now, I'm off to play the lottery! just kidding!

Chirstmas in a Week!

Aaahhhhhh!!! Man I gotta get movin'! I have been putting off sending my Christmas cards and going Christmas shopping. I don't really even feel like leaving my house! :) Yes I know, shame on me! So, while the baby is sleeping, I'm going to type up a few (or more) blog posts then get to my Christmas cards. My hubby did all of the Christmas shopping for me yesterday! What a wonderful man, so now all I have to do is wrap. Since I was on a gift tag kick this year, everything that isn't a gift card will be going in a gift bag with a lovely tag, which means I'll me making more of those too! Oh well, at least I love to make them, makes everything better! Anyways, on to the card!

Over at Limelight last week, they had a challenge to make a circle card with glitter. Well, I made the card but I didn't have time to enter it, but that's okay! I still needed some inspiration for a card and this turned out so cute! First off, I got to use more Eskimo Kisses paper, I heart it! Then, I also got to use my new box of chipboard embellishments from DCWV! I love these things! I've only made one other card with them but I know I have to use more. I also outlined everything with Stickles and I accented a few things on the paper with my Spica Glitter pen, I heart it too! And, the great thing about this card is you can actually hang in on your tree, which is good because the chipboard makes it want to roll! lol Oops! I'd love to know what you think!

Another Oops!

Here's another creation I made with one of Nina's images! This one was from last week! I made it and had every intention of posting it, then fell asleep watching a movie. Oh well, I still wanted to post it for Nina. I know it's hard work doing all that she does so I want her know that we do appreciate it! :)

The challenge was to use her image and make something besides a card. So I decided I would make a gift bag with a matching tag. I used my snowflake punch and covered them with lavender Stickles and purple rhinestones. My mom loves purple and snowmen so this bag is for her. I also grabbed Helen's gift bag template to make the bag.

Enjoy!

Another Quickie

Updated!

Warning-Long Post Ahead

Sorry, my card was for a contest and I had to get it up before it closed! I wanted to come back and talk about it because I used a few new goodies on it!

First off, it was for the challenge over at There's Magic in the Air! Now, I've told you this before but you REALLY have to check out Nina's blog and NEW store! She shares all of these wonderful digi's with us every week and now you can buy them and tons more at her new store, Paper Cupcakes!!!

This week, well actually last week now, you had to use "Sweet Trouble" and make a card that's clean and simple and easy to mail, oh, and have pink on it. I have a really bad habit of printing the image out on Monday, which is when it available, and coloring it, then I wait until the very last minute to use it. That's why my post was so late! So with a colored digi in one hand and a very wiggly baby in the other I whipped this up, good thing it had to be simple!! :)

I was thrilled to make this card because I finally got to use my new Basic Grey paper! Now, I understand that this paper has been around and I have seen thousands of cards made with it, that's why I wanted it. But, I just sold some cards so I finally had the money to buy it. I'm so happy just have paper people have heard of! You know, when you see a card on a blog that you love and think, "Hey, I own that paper and can make that!" Anyone else do that?? :) So, I used some paper from Eskimo Kisses paper from Basic Grey. I colored it with my Bic markers and I added sparkle with my NEW Spica Glitter pen that I'm also in love with! I punched a couple of snowflakes, covered them with Stickles and I was done! PS: I just bought a set of 12 Copic Markers!! (Sorry, had to brag!) If you want some of these makers but want to save a little cash, check out Ebay! I saved a little money and my sweet husband got to "coach" me on how to bid! Lol!

Check it out!

MyGrafico Blog Hop!

MyGrafico decided they would have a blog hop for their customers and I get to play along! They have tons of stuff and great freebies too! To play along check out the list over at the MyGrafico Challenge Blog. Be sure to leave comments, someone will win a free set! Here's my card I made with a freebie I got from their newsletter. I just had to make something other than a Christmas card! I'll be leaving this for my hubby to find.
I finally got to use my new "toys" on this card too! I flocked my teddy bear and I used Flower Soft on her sweater! I think I need to practice a little more with my flocking but it still looks pretty good. I love this stuff!!! Well, I'm off to hop around before the baby wakes up! Have a great weekend!

Polka Dots!!

This week's challenge over at Sunflowers and Dragonflies requires you to make a card with polka dots! I love polka dots! I finally got to use my border punch I got on Black Friday, too! It's such a simple way to dress up a card. Almost time to mail out Christmas cards and I don't have nearly enough! I've got to get busy!

Enjoy!

Quickie Post!

I don't really have time to post but I wanted to get this card up before the deadline. This is my card for the challenge over at There's Magic in the Air. You had to use something fluffy, so I used some fluffy ribbon and put some white fibers on the hat. Enjoy!

Back again...sorta

I don't have any pictures to post tonight but I do have something to share. We've been painting so I've been busy trying to help, clean, and wrangle a little person that keeps trying to "help". She even picked the putty out of the holes my husband had just puttied! Oops! I do hope to get my office back in order! He painted it a beautiful Antique Silver and it's GORGEOUS!!!! It's so soothing! I'll put up some pictures of it soon. Anyways...on to what I have to share.

I don't know if any of you follow Julia Stainton/Belle Papier but if you don't you should! She creates the most beautiful things! If fact, I doubt she's ever made anything that I didn't like! Today she's sharing more of her canvas scrapbook she is doing of her mother. It is so pretty and girly and just perfect! So I wanted to share it. So check it out here!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I did and I actually got to go to some black Friday sales, but only at craft stores!

More Primas!!

Look what I got at Hobby Lobby the other day!! Primas! If you've been reading my blog from the beginning, you know that I get very excited when I buy Primas! Normally, I buy about 60 flowers for $7.00, but I usually use a coupon so I don't have to pay full price. So, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this container of over 500 (I think) flowers for $12.99! And, wouldn't you know, I had a coupon! So, for $8 bucks I bought them, and then I spent the whole night sorting them by color into baby food jars. I knew I saved those things for a reason! I just smile everything I look at them! I even took pictures! :)

This is what I started with... You wouldn't think that's alot, but there are a ton of little bitty flowers mixed in.
Sorting...
Finished!! Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?? No, face it, you haven't!
Now, it's time to use them! If you love Primas, I suggest these!

Custom Christmas Tags!

I love making these tags! I had a friend ask me to make some tags to match these cute little bags that she bought for her Christmas presents. She wanted black, cream, and red. At first I had a hard time thinking about how to make them, but after MANY trips to Hobby Lobby (darn) I finally made them! I LOVE them! I almost hoped that she wouldn't want them, but nah, I can make more! :) Aren't they just gorgeous?? They are black on the back so I left them blank, but I'm going to suggest writing on them with a silver pen. Her hand writing will look much better than any of the stamps I have.
Toodles!

Christmas Tags!

Hello! Look, another consecutive post!

I made large Christmas tags for our craft fairs and everyone really liked them! I saw them on Dawn McVey's blog and thought they were a great idea! They are perfect if you have a gift you don't want to wrap, like a jar candle, you can just tie it around the top! No wrapping but it still looks great! They also look great on plain paper bags, which are MUCH cheaper than regular bags.
Check back tomorrow to see the beautiful custom tags I made for a friend of mine.

Skating By!

Well, I'm back! I think! I've been excited about getting back to blogging and actually going through the stack of blog emails in my inbox!

FYI: That last craft fair was a TOTAL flop.

Anyways, I actually made a card today! I picked up the freebie image over at There's Magic in the Air. Mr. Penguin is "skating by" in this image. I thought this was a great image to work with! Thanks Nina! :) The challenge this week is to use something reflective. I didn't have anything reflective so I decided to use some paper from a new line, Reynolds Wrap! lol I know that was cheesy but it's late and I haven't blogged in a while. Anyways, I used my snowflake punch and glued them to my card stock. And of course it's just not a card unless you use some Stickles!

Enjoy!

Craft Fair!

The reason I haven't posted anything for a while is because I've been busy crafting my booty off! My friend, Hannah, and I had a booth at a craft fair last weekend and it was a blast! We sold a bunch of stuff and it was just nice to hang out without our kiddos ya know! So, I'm sharing a table with my mom and one of her friends this weekend at another craft fair! It's not as big as the last one but I'm still hoping to sell some Christmas cards. I think I'm addicted to this. I'm really enjoying making things and selling them to people that enjoy them! (And getting extra craft money doesn't hurt too bad either) So here are a few pics from the last one. There are only a few because we were in such a frenzy we didn't really think to actually use our CAMERA just our phones, even though the cameras were about two feet away. What can I say, were just special sometimes. Please remember, this was our first one and next time we will so blow it out of the water!!!!!

Me being silly!
Hannah!
Crappy picture of my half the table.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Oops!

I haven't been blogging! I've been so busy doing craft fair stuff that I haven't even thought about it! So, maybe after this weekend, I'll be back sharing. I hope to actually take pictures this time! Hope everyone is doing great!

Sympathy

Today I'm sharing a sympathy card I made for a friend of ours. He lost his mother last week. I really struggled with this card but I think it turned out pretty good, not too girly or happy. Hope everyone is having a good day. 11 days until our craft fair, CRAP!!! :)

Twisted Thursday Challenge

Here's another challenge! Over at S2G Challenges, you had to use their sketch and the twist was to use a metal tag or something metal on your card. I used a metal Christmas tree embellishment and stuck it on some cardstock and made a little tag for my ribbon. I liked this sketch so much, I think I'm going to make a few more cards with it. I also used my new paper and my new ribbon AND my new stickers! I love new stuff! I have to make something with it right away or it just eats at me! :)

Let me know what you think!

Inspiration Needed

My friends and I are doing a craft fair in November and I need inspiration BAD!! :) So, I've decided to participate in all of the challenges I can find. That way, I get my cards made and I might win something! So, I made this card for the challenge over at Passion for ProMarkers. The challenge was to use their sketch and any colors, so I did Christmas. The image on my card I got from End of the Day Crafting on Etsy. I bought some smaller images from her and she threw one of these in too! So, I will being buying some of these because I love them, and they were a great price! Let me know what ya think!
PS: If you find a fun challenge, let me know! :)

I just wanted to post this card, then I'm off to play with my new goodies from Hobby Lobby! I got a ton of new paper and ribbon, 50% off, I couldn't help it! :)

This image is from Nina for her weekly challenge. I colored it with my NEW markers! This my first time ever to color with these markers and I think it looks just plain AWESOME!! Keep your Copics, I got 24 markers for 12 bucks! I'll make due for now! Anyways, I made this for my Granny. She asked me to make her a Halloween birthday card, so this was just perfect! I love it so much I almost didn't wanna give it away! :) Let me know what you think!

EHWCMD4 Challenge at the CLASSroom

And last (maybe) but not least for card for Julia's challenge to put on the glitz! I love all of her cards and this one was no exception! I couldn't wait to play along! (more Stickles) I also used a printable from etc. so cute! Now, it was in color but I didn't have a color printer so I printed it on pink paper and Stickled it up!!! I just love the way it looked!
Let me know what ya think!!

EHWCMD6 Challenge at the CLASSroom

Second card for the night, also for the CLASSroom! The challenge was to use robin's egg blue, dark brown, and vanilla/cream. Here's my take! (more Stickles!)
Let me know what you think!

EHWCMD7 Challenge at the CLASSroom

First up is my card for a challenge at over the the CLASSroom. The challenge was to make a card using the upcoming holiday season! Tough one I know! Here's my card, hope you like it!
If you'll notice, I used a bunch of Stickles on this card! I just love them and that's what I love about making holiday cards, it's perfectly acceptable to put them everywhere! :) And, if you read my next few post, you'll see that I did!

WCMD Challenges!

Okay guys I'm fixing to start posting all my cards and entries for the various contests I'm entering so there will be quite a few posts and they should be short since a little person I love won't let me be on here for long! :) I hope you enjoyed your WCMD, I know I did!

It's World Card Making Day!!!

Yay! Sounds like a perfect holiday to me! There are tons of games and challenges going everywhere and I can't wait to play! I'll be playing today over at Limelight Papercrafts! Sesame Street is on and I have a fresh cup of coffee, let the games begin! Hope everyone gets to enjoy all the fun or at least make something!

Toodles!

Pink Christmas

Who doesn't love a pink card?? I do! So I decided to use this pink paper to make a card for Limelight Sketch #31. The challenge is to use texture on your card. So, I added some burgundy Stickles to my candy cane for a little texture! I also used another digital stamp on here and I have to say that I think my coloring is getting better! I watched this tutorial on Nina's blog "There's Magic in the Air" for Bic Mark-it Markers (which I will be purchasing soon!) and I just adapted it to color pencils. I have a hard time understanding how to shade but I'm learning! Let me know what you think!

More Digi Stamps!

Whew! What a interesting past couple of days! Between rain, broken water pipe, separation anxiety, and teething I am worn out!!! I want my boring life back! :) Anyways...on to the cards.

First up is my card I made for Nina's weekly challenge over at There's Magic in the Air. You had to make a card using her FREE digi stamp, ribbon, and a bow! I just love these challenges because I only use scrap paper and who doesn't have a ton of that! Since you can color these images anyway you want I just pick out some paper I like and color it to match! I thought this one turned out pretty cute and I just had to add a flower and of course it had to match the one in his mouth! Isn't this image fun!

Next up is my card I made for Helen's challenge at Scrap A Little (bet you can't tell which blogs I visit the most), you had to make something with a butterfly on it. So, I found another digi stamp and here we go!
Can't wait to hear what you think!

Sad.....

I'm sad! No one, not one single person visited my blog today! Windy, you must have been busy! :) Oh well! Well, it's that time of the month again, NO not THAT time! It's flea market time!!! Yay, I hope we find some great stuff tomorrow! I may even post whatever I buy if it's really good. Can't wait!

Toodles!

I scored.....

...lines on this card! :) Cheesy I know. Today I finally did something I haven't done in a long time! I sat down to make a card with a certain stamp and actually made a card! And it didn't take me forever!

This week over at There's Magic in the Air you can snag a free digital stamp from Nina and you can enter their challenge. The challenge was to emboss or score something. I wasn't pleased with how my embossing looked so I thought I would score some lines around my image and I really like the way it looks!
I'm also going to mail this card to Ida for her blog candy! Hope she likes it! :)

Yes, I'm bragging! I won this blog candy and I just can't wait to get it!
It's from Scrap a Little! She has great tutorials, challenges, and giveaways! You should check it out! Thanks again Helen!

Digi Stamps!

I have recently started using digi stamps (well trying) and I have to say, I'm really loving them! Now, I'm not really that good at coloring and I don't have any of those fancy pencils or markers but I still really like them! I use regular Crayola colored pencils to color mine or I don't color them at all! I needed to make a birthday card for my father in law so I went searching the net for some free "manly" digi stamps. I found this great site, Digital Two for Tuesday. Every Tuesday you can get two free digital stamps! How's that for feeding your addiction??? :) But they aren't actually stamps, they are pictures and what not from old books! So there are old cars and pictures of ladies from the 1900's, very cool. Anyway, I got a couple and tried them out. The first one I printed on tan (sorry no fancy name here) cardstock, inked the edges and just layered it on navy blue paper. I LOVE this card! It's one of those you really don't want to give away, ya know. He really liked it too, I think! :)
This next one is for my brother in law as a thank card. I always struggle with man cards but I thought he might like this because he's a kid at heart. I printed this and colored it with colored pencils. Now, if this card had been for a woman, I would have put flowers and bows on it and called it a day, but boys don't like that kind of stuff (pfft!) So, I picked an old button out of the stash my hubby's grandmother gave me and put a little twine through it. I also layered my picture onto kraft cardstock I had run through the crimper to give it that cardboardy look. I'm still working on shading, but I think it turned out pretty well!
And last, but not least, a girly card! I made this as a thank you for my mother in law. I was going for a vintage look here and I think I pulled it off. The red rose picture is actually a tag I believe was torn off an old stationary box. It's a ad for Ladies Stationary. I just love stuff like that, it's another flea market find! :) My fav.

Well, that's all for today! I'm going to attempt to sleep again! Thanks for reading!

I'm Alive!

I'm back from my blogging vaca! I know, I know, but that first month of blogging was really rough! :) I'm just kidding. I'm sorry girls (both of you) but I was so not in the mood! But, now I am so here we go.

I figured I would start in the present and then I would go back and fill everyone in on what I have been doing the past month.

A couple of days ago I went to Joanns for glue, ha! Well, that's what my husband thought anyway. While I was searching for "glue" I found some new paper I fell in love with! Now I'm going to show you a picture of some thank you cards I made and see if you can figure it out.

Yep, you guessed it! It's that newspapery paper! And I love it! Now, I've been eyeing this "Newspaper Ad" Scrapblock from Cornish Heritage Farms that Julia designed!!! (If you still haven't checked out her blog, do it!) I would LOVE to buy this stamp but, well, after shipping and everything I'm sure it would be kinda expensive and I just can't do that, the bargain hunter in me will explode. So imagine how thrilled I was to find this paper! I know it's not quite the same look but it's still awesome! And you can't tell from the pic, but the "ads" are all for doll furniture! So its girly, but if you used it on a man's card do you really think he would notice?? No, he would not. So armed with my new paper and some brown ink I churned out these cards. I didn't want to make them all the same so I used different ribbon, buttons, and flowers.

Now, the card in the middle is more special than the others because.... it's got vintage lace and buttons! My husbands grandmother was sweet enough to give me some old lace and tons of really really old buttons! She sews and has been her whole life, so she had lots of cool stuff. I'm still going through them all and gushing! I hoard buttons so I'm in Heaven. Here's a close up.

So, for some dumb reason, I only bought ONE piece of this paper, so I'll be going back for more. I did also buy glue and a few other sheets of paper I fell in love with (it was on sale so I HAD to). But those cards will be for another post.

I hope you read this Windy!!! She's my first reader and the blogging police, so I have to post on here or she "reminds" me! :) Love you Windy!

I can't wait to hear what you think! Leave comments, I love them!

Yep I'm Addicted!

So I LOVE Prima Flowers right?? Oh yes, and as I was making my weekly trip to Michaels I saw some flowers that I have been wanting and they were on CLEARANCE!!!! So naturally, I bought them and now I have three new packages of Prima Flowers! Oh happy day! Now I just need to make something with them! Maybe after the party this weekend! Ahhhh....

Friday, July 10, 2009

Guess who got some Prima Flowers!!!

ME!!! I've always loved these flowers and I've been stalking them at Michael's for sometime now. I always thought they were too expensive for just some flowers, until..... I realized DUH!!! Use your 50% off coupon! So now I have bunches and I love them!! And I plan on buying lots more so I won't hoard the ones I have. So here is a great card I made with them! I think this is the first one I have made and I love it!!! I used Stacey's Jewerly Color Inspiration Challenge #44. I really loved this color combo! My "Rust" looks more pink in the picture but I think it still looks great! Also, my office is decorated in plum so I actually had something I could kinda stage it with! I really hope I win this one! Please let me know what you think!
